Lisbon’s bull ring re-opens this month

LISBON’S BULL RING at Campo Pequeno will be officially reopened on May 16, following a three-year renovation programme.

The official inauguration ceremony, which will be presided over by the president of Lisbon Câmara, and will be marked by a musical equestrian show with song and dance, produced by well-known Portuguese show impresario Filipe La Féria.

The facelift on the late 18th century listed landmark includes cafés, shops and restaurants as well as a removable cover to shield audiences from both the sun and bad weather. The space will also double up for concerts and shows as well as bull fights.

Protests are expected to be made by animal rights protesters who are against the use of animals for entertainment purposes and the suffering of the bulls taking part.
