Lisbon’s Belcanto climbs to 25th slot on World’s 50 Best Restaurants list

Portuguese chef José Avillez’s flagship restaurant Belcanto, in Lisbon, has risen 21 places to 25th on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, which this year is headed by Central (Lima, Peru), the UK media company that compiles the list has announced. “José Avillez offers a vision of contemporary Portuguese cuisine, in which each dish tells a story, whether about the country, the restaurant’s origins or the chef himself,” said the lists’s organisers, at a ceremony held last night in Valencia, Spain.
