LISBON’S BAIXA Chiado is the world’s 31st most expensive district in which to rent or buy commercial property.

According to statistics released by international real estate company, Cushman, Wakefield, Healey and Baker, New York’s 5th Avenue tops the list, where each square metre costs a staggering 11,588 euros, followed by Hong Kong’s Causeway Bay and Les Champs Elysées in Paris.

In Lisbon’s Baixa, each square metre will set you back a cool 1,140 euros followed by Avenida de Roma at 600 euros. The study called Main streets across the World 2005, monitored the rents of 237 commercial locations in 47 countries.
