The Portuguese capital held its 10th Half-Marathon on Sunday, with Kenya’s Silas Sang breaking the course record in 1h.00.20 to take the men’s race ahead of compatriots Emmanuel Mutai and Nicholas Kiprono.

Although another Kenyan runner, Helena Kiprop, also led the women home, the latest edition of this famous race saw Dulce Felix and Maria Barros ensure a first-time presence on the podium for Portuguese athletes by seeing off the remainder of the east African contingent and taking second and third places.

On two wheels Jorge Lorenzo shaded Casey Stoner to achieve back-to-back victories at the MotoGP of Portugal in Estoril.

The Spanish Yamaha ace thus closed the gap on championship leader Valentino Rossi, who finished fourth, to 18 points.
