Lisbon Rotary Club celebrates 80 years

THE LISBON Rotary Club celebrated its 80th anniversary recently in the presence of special guest, Carmona Rodrigues, President of Lisbon Câmara.

Carmona commended the Rotary Club for raising much needed funds to help various charities and institutions such as the Helen Keller Centre, the Santa Casa da Misericórdia, elderly persons’ homes, centres for children at risk and firefighting associations. “For 80 years, the Rotary Club in Lisbon has been helping the community, defending the weakest and least protected,” said the mayor.

The Rotary Club is a worldwide organisation, whose aim is to promote charity, peace, goodwill and humanitarian causes through the development of diverse social and economic projects. There are approximately 31,000 Rotary Clubs in the world, with 1.2 million members spread over 167 countries.
