MORE THAN 100 people attended the Remembrance Day Service at St George’s Church in Lisbon on Sunday.
Among the congregation were representatives of the British Community, NATO and the Liga dos Combatentes. Wreaths were laid at the altar on behalf of Her Majesty’s government by Mr Ben Lister-Binns, the British Forces in Portugal by Air Commodore M P Colley, OBE MA RAF, the senior British Officer at JC Lisbon, the Canadian government, by Lt Col Brunelle and the Royal British Legion, by Ron Goddard.
The service was conducted by Rev Michael Bullock and the sermon delivered by the Rev William Ross, Minister of St Andrew’s Church of Scotland, Lisbon. Sgt Darren Behenna MBE paid homage to those who died in war and whose bodies were buried in St George’s Church cemetery.
