LAST YEAR’S UEFA Champions, Valencia FC, handed over the famous golden trophy in a recent ceremony at Lisbon’s City Hall. Receiving the trophy was UEFA Chief Executive, Lars-Christer Olsson, who handed on the trophy to Lisbon Câmara vice president, Carmona Rodrigues.

Also present at the ceremony was Portuguese FA President, Gilberto Madail, Portugal’s Secretary of State for Youth and Sport, Laurentino Dias, Sporting Clube de Portugal chairman, António Dias da Cunha, and former Portuguese international player, Paulo Sousa who is this year’s ambassador for the UEFA Cup Final, which takes place at Lisbon’s José Alvalade stadium on May 18.

Carmona Rodrigues said that the choice of Lisbon for the final “represents another important milestone in raising the city’s image and prestige in the eyes of the international community”.

The UEFA Cup will be on display at the Biblioteca Orlando Ribeiro until the Final in May. Tickets for the Cup Final will be on sale to the public until April 18 exclusively from www.uefa.com
