Lisbon is one of the three finalists for the European City of Innovation (iCapital) award, competing against Lviv (Ukraine) and Warsaw (Poland), with the winner to be announced on November 27, the European Commission has announced. The winning city in the iCapital category will receive a prize of €1 million, while the other two finalists will each receive €100,000. Quoted in a statement released by the Lisbon city council, mayor, Carlos Moedas said Lisbon’s candidacy was based on the idea that the city “is the home and space for all those who believe, take risks and innovate”, making the “impossible possible”.
