Lisbon mayor meets Pope in Vatican

Lisbon mayor Carlos Moedas will be received by Pope Francis in the Vatican tomorrow. The trip is to mark the 100 days left before the start of World Youth Day celebrations in Lisbon and Loures this August. Mr Moedas stresses he is going “with great pride”: the World Youth Day will be a wonderful event for the city, he insists, bringing over a million young people to the capital, starting in July. Work preparing the site for the celebrations, including the grandiose ‘altar stage’, is ‘all on schedule’, he adds.
