Lisbon hosts craft ‘Beer Week’

Over 40 national and international craft beers can be tasted at Lisbon’s Beer Week taking place in the Portuguese capital until Sunday (September 25).

The event is divided into three stages.

The first, ‘Rota das Cervejas’, features seven bars and 30 restaurants that are presenting their own “special beer-themed menu”.

The second is a ‘Beer Festival’ which will allow people to enjoy a cold craft beer while also taking in the beautiful views of Lisbon’s Jardim do Torel.

The festival starts Friday and will run until Sunday from 4pm to 2am. Guests must purchase a special beer glass for €3.

But the most original initiative was left for last.

On Sunday, beer lovers will have a chance to burn off their ‘beer belly’ by running in the ‘Beer Mile’, a mile-long race with a special twist. At every half mile, runners will have to stop and drink a beer.

Those interested can sign up online at www.lisbonbeerweek.com at a cost of €13.
