After all the grand promises and acts of legislation, it seems Lisbon is “full of illegal Alojamento Local (unregistered holiday lets)” and there is “complete lack of control” in the opening of bars, particularly in the Bairro Alto area of the capital. The result: residents’ right to peace and quiet has been largely ridden roughshod over. Who says this is independent councillor Joana Almeida – part of the ‘ruling’ Novos Tempos alliance, led by mayor Carlos Moedas. The solution? Authorities like ASAE will be encouraged to ‘come down harder’ on miscreants.
