Supermarkets and convenience stores in Lisbon will be able to operate 24 hours a day during World Youth Day (WYD), the mass Roman Catholic event that is taking place during the first week of August. Outlets like Pingo Doce have already announced they will be boosting staff, and increasing stocks in their various outlets. Alcohol sales, however, will be limited to normal operating hours, up to midnight.
