In an extraordinary press release received this week from Lisbon PSP, we can reveal that the capital’s cops have gone “Hollywood”. The combination of last week’s early heat wave and too much American TV seems to have turned heads in high places.
We are told that Lisbon’s finest has recognised the “crucial importance of tourism to the Portuguese economy” as well as “the image of Portugal abroad” and to “respond to this dynamic” they have created a crack tourism patrol, “supporting the tourist at the most visited places in Lisbon”.
These supportive teams will receiving professional training in foreign languages so that they can hit the capital’s high spots from June 24 in multiple tongues.
Also appearing for the first time will be Portugal’s answer to Pacific Blue – those hunky freewheelers from across the pond who race to any crime in tight shorts and on two wheels.
