Lisbon bus driver killed in violent accident

A 54-year-old bus driver was killed and six passengers were injured when a car crashed into a Carris bus on the intersection of the Avenida da República and Avenida da Berna avenues in Lisbon at 4.50am this morning.

The crash was so strong that the bus driver was ejected through the windshield.

The driver of the other vehicle abandoned his car and ran away on foot but turned himself into the PSP police at 8.15am. It has not yet been revealed if he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

The six injured bus passengers were taken to the Santa Maria and São José hospitals in Lisbon.
