The lions club, a charity organisation with members across the world, is celebrating 50 years of service to local communities in Portugal this year. Lions Clube de Loulé was formed around 20 years ago and, for the last 12, has held a fundraising garden party in Quinta do Lago. It is the major fundraising event of the year for the Lions and, for the second year running, proceeds will go towards building a new crèche in Almancil. So far, the club has raised around 10,000 euros.
This year’s event is on Saturday, June 19, from 3pm until 6.30pm, at the home of Lion, Maria da Glória Barra, 51 Rua Vouga, Monte Golfe, Quinta do Lago. Follow the signs from Quinta Shopping – entrance is only one euro at the gate. There will be a fashion show, sale of bric-a-brac, nearly new clothes, tombola, grand draw and a bar with refreshments in the beautiful gardens of the villa.
You can purchase your ticket on the door, but, if you would like to buy one beforehand, then ring Ruth on 289 416 659, who can also provide information regarding the event and how to become involved with the Lions. Also call Ruth if you would like to donate a prize for the grand draw.
