Lights out

Loulé Câmara has announced that it will be taking part in Earth Hour tomorrow (Saturday) with the public lighting in the cities of Loulé and Quarteira being turned off for one hour between 8.30pm and 9.30pm.

The Câmara is also encouraging private citizens and businesses to also turn off their lights for the hour as part of the global movement against climate change.

Earth Hour first started in 2007 in Australia and in 2010 the event had grown to incorporate more than 1.2 billion people worldwide with 26 cities in Portugal officially taking part.
