Lights out in Faro

In a bid to combat the financial impact of the rise in IVA on electricity from 6% to 23%, Faro Câmara has announced that they will be reducing the amount of time street lighting will be on each day.

A spokesman from Faro Câmara said: “The Câmara has been forced to find a solution to the tax rise and so through an understanding with EDP we will be cutting the use of public lighting in the municipality.”

The activation of street and road lighting will now be delayed by half an hour each evening and will be turned off one hour earlier in the morning in urban areas.

The lighting on the EN125 at the entrance to Faro towards Patação and from Faro towards Olhão on the EN125-10 will be turned off one and a half hours earlier in the morning.
