Licences for new building increase by 12%

After years of stagnation, things are finally looking up in the construction sector. Público reports that licences for new buildings are up 12% on figures for last year, with “all regions in the country” showing positive growth – particularly those in the metropolitan area of Lisbon and the Algarve. Construction to provide housing is also showing an average increase of 60% on last year, with the Algarve registering 245.2%.
