Many property owners wish to let their properties, whether long-term to residents or short-term to holidaymakers, but confusion abounds due to numerous changes to legislation over recent years.
Thus afpop, the largest association for foreign residents in Portugal, in collaboration with euroFINESCO, is presenting two seminars on the subject in April.
The seminars are designed to clarify a number of points that directly affect property owners: How do owners and agents fit into current requirements? What compliance obligations actually exist? What steps are needed to ensure that you are operating correctly?
Entitled Letting Property in Portugal – Getting it Right, the seminars will be held in two locations:
• Western Algarve: April 3 at Boavista Golf Clubhouse, Lagos, from 10.30am to 12.30pm
• Central/Eastern Algarve: April 4 at Glenridge Resort Restaurant (near Guia), from 10.30am to 12.30pm
Each seminar comprises:
Introduction:
Review of recent legislation
Part 1: Long-term rentals to residents (rental contracts, taxation of income, compliance obligations)
Part 2: Short-term lets to holidaymakers (setting up as a business, keeping tax to just 5%, compliance requirements)
Part 3: Local Lodging Licensing (what is required, how to proceed); Part 4: Questions and answers.
The cost for attendance is €15 for members (€5 euros for partner member) and €30 euros for non-members, payable in advance or on the day.
