Dear Editor,
In response to the letter regarding payment of tolls by David Summerson (May 4 edition), he states that having purchased a transponder for his UK registered car and already been charged for three journeys on the A22. it shows that the system can read foreign registrations.
Can I just clarify that the transponder is registered to that particular vehicle (hence the reason for taking the car’s registration documents to purchase one) so doesn’t prove whether the system can or cannot read foreign registrations.
It may be useful for any readers who have foreign registered vehicles to read the information (available in English, French and Spanish) on the Estradas de Portugal website: http://www.estradas.pt/portagensestrangeiros
