Alcoutim Walking Festival returns with 16 themed walks
‘We are together again’ is the motto of the 8th Alcoutim Walking Festival, which will take place between March 25 and 27.
The event is organised by Alcoutim Council in collaboration with the Ayuntamiento de Sanlúcar de Guadiana, giving hikers an opportunity to explore the beauty of the Eastern Algarve’s inland.
This year there are 16 themed walks planned, from sunset walks along the Spanish border with a view of Alcoutim to walks along the Caminho Nascente de Santiago trail of the Grande Rota do Guadiana.
The walks will take place in both Alcoutim and Sanlúcar de Guadiana and will have different difficulty levels. They will be led by guides who “know the territory” and provide context to the themed hikes, each of which aims to “showcase the potential of Alcoutim as a destination of excellence for nature hikes” as well as its “natural, historic, gastronomic and culturally diverse heritage.”
Hikers must sign up for the event by March 22 for a €15 fee, which will grant them access to a wide range of walks.
