The Spring Mediterranean Garden Fair, to be held on Saturday, March 16 at new venue Fissul in Silves, will host a number of speakers giving free talks.
Company Biostasia will be first, from 12 noon to 1pm, with a talk on “biological and zero-residue products”. This will be a short presentation on products for the ornamental and edible garden, followed by plenty of time for questions and answers about environment-friendly solutions to pests and diseases in the garden.
From 2.30pm to 3.30pm, Fernanda Botelho will talk about ornamental, wild and edible plants. “Have you thought about eating your hedges or the weeds in your garden? Does that sound strange? It’s possible and delicious,” she says. Fernanda will show the possibilities of cooking and making teas with fuchsias, eugenias, hemerocallis, melaleucas, plantain, dandelion, mallow and so on.
A workshop on how to grow plants from seeds and cuttings will run from 3.30pm to 4.30pm and is a chance to learn more about using native plants in your garden.
The garden fair runs from 10am to 5pm and entrance is free.
