It is so sad that the Refúgio dos Burros is in such dire straits (article ‘Animal shelter faces eviction’, August 2 2013 edition).
Nan and Peter gave over 20 years of their lives to found and run this worthy animal charity. There are still willing helpers to continue their work if the site can be saved.
If just 50 of us, who are true animal lovers, could donate the cost of just one restaurant meal, say €20, €1,000 could be raised immediately. We must try for the sake of the many animals there.
