A SPECIAL event to celebrate traditional dishes made with lamb is being hosted from April 10 to 16 by the Região de Turismo Planície Dourada, an area in the Alentejo encompassing Aljustrel, Almodôvar, Alvito, Barrancos, Beja, Castro Verde, Cuba, Ferreira do Alentejo, Mértola, Moura, Ourique, Serpa and Vidigueira.
The annual event, entitled Semana Gastronómica do Borrego, coincides with Easter this year and more than 45 restaurants spread out across the entire region are expected to take part.
The special lamb gastronomy week provides food lovers with the opportunity of getting to know the traditional cuisine of the region, not to mention some of the excellent local produce such as Alentejo lamb and Serpa cheese.
