IF YOU recognise these faces, you may well have seen some of the shows they have performed in. They are some of the dancers that form part of the Stars Danceschool, led by teachers Sharon Goulding and Karina Vieira who share the task of moulding so many aspiring performers.
Based at the Carvoeiro Clube de Ténis, the Stars Danceschool is now celebrating its 10th anniversary. It started with only five enthusiastic dancers, but now consists of around 120 students, starting from the age of four, and is still growing.
Ranging from beginners’ level to advanced, the school offers a wide choice of styles, including jazz, showdance, ballet and tap.
Tots, teens and talented mums all take part in the dance school’s two annual shows, and are now preparing for the next one – a musical on April 9 and 10 at the Portimão Auditorium.
Just 4 You
In total, 12 dancers were selected from the Stars Danceschool and, two years ago, formed Just 4 You, a cabaret group which has recently been given the opportunity to perform in many hotels across the region, thanks to Carlos Simão from the Hotel Garbe in Armação de Pêra, who gave them their “big break” in showbiz. The group’s performances include AFPOP’s Gala Dinner at Le Meriden Hotel and The Resident/Hotel Garbe’s fundraising Grand Auction, as well as independent performances at numerous charity events, such as the Old Time Music Hall and Children in Need.
