ISLANDERS FROM Lesbos are seeking to ban Greek gay rights groups from using the word lesbian in their names because they believe they are insulting their home islands identity.
The homosexual and lesbian community of Greece is accused of causing confusion by using the geographical term in conjunction with a social movement.
A spokesman for the group has accused the islanders, known as Lesbians, of being homophobic. However, the islanders have said that this is “not an aggressive act against gay women”.
Lawyers from both sides are to submit written arguments and the court is expected to issue its decision in the next six months.
