DUE TO a miscommunication problem, the opening date for the Leroy Merlin superstore in Guia, printed in last week’s edition of The Resident as July 29, was incorrect. The Resident apologises to its readers for any inconvenience this may have caused, but is pleased to announce that Leroy Merlin actually opened its doors to the public on Monday, July 3, and The Resident’s Natasha Smith and Mark Rawcliffe were among the first to walk into the huge DIY store.
The manager of the shop, Carlos Frade, cut the ribbon to mark the opening of the first Leroy Merlin store to hit the Algarve, with more than 50 people waiting outside to be among the first customers to enter the store at 9:30am, when the doors were opened.
The helpful and friendly staff applauded the first few customers as they entered, gave them a complimentary gift and a 20 per cent discount on all their purchases.
The store, a haven for DIY-lovers across the Algarve, is fully stocked with more than 40,000 products.
Leroy Merlin is located on the EN125 next to Makro, opposite Algarve Shopping, in Guia. Opening times: Monday to Saturday from 9am to 10pm, and 9am to 1pm on Sunday. For more information call 289 560 500 or visit www.leroymerlin.com
