Lecture sheds light on effects of divorce

Identifying the negative effects that divorce can have on children is the goal of the International School of the Algarve’s fifth public pedagogical lecture for the school year of 2013-2014.
It will be held on March 28 at the Grand Hall of the Albufeira Town Hall, starting at 9pm.
The school decided to address this issue as “the number of divorces in Portugal has tripled between 1990 and 2010 and normally has consequences on family structure and child development”.
Bárbara Figueiredo, professor and researcher at the University of Minho, was invited to head the lecture as she holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology and has been in charge of the children and adolescents psychology department at the university since 1992.
The lecturer will be sharing some of the results of her investigations to help parents and educators better cope with the negative side effects of divorce in children.
Admission is free and requires no prior reservation. The lecture will be delivered in Portuguese.
