Steve Willsher told the Algarve Resident: “We purchased the premises in September 2000. The property was very run down and badly neglected and we started a programme of improvements by cleaning, renovating and updating the area.
“Shellford Pet Hotel now provides spacious, dry and cosy accommodation with the added benefit of a large, secure play/exercise area for the cats which is great for our long stay residents who can sunbathe and scratch among the tree trunks and plants.” It offers long and short term boarding for both cats and dogs.
All the dogs get at least one good walk a day in the surrounding countryside. A local door-to-door delivery and collection service is also available on request.
“We can also arrange all the paperwork, vet’s certificates and flights for owners who are returning with their pets to the UK.
“We are now very well known across the Algarve with most new clients coming from personal recommendations and through local vets, and our own dedicated vets, Canham Clinic in Almancil, with customers from as far as Spain,” he said.
