Águas do Algarve will be opening the doors of its two largest water treatment plants to the general public this month.
To mark two important dates that celebrate a sustainable planet, World Forestry Day on March 21 and World Water Day on March 22, the water treatment plants of Alcantarilha and Tavira will be open for two-hour guided tours of the infrastructures.
Technicians will be on hand to inform about the “complex” process involved in the treatment of water for human consumption, from the moment it is collected to when it reaches the consumer’s tap.
The initiative also aims to raise awareness about the importance of adopting good environmental practices such as saving water.
