ALGARVE-BASED gardening and landscaping company Jardim Vista SA has reported a growth of 85 per cent in turnover last year.

The company had a successful 2007, with significant economic growth in contrast with the overall business environment in Portugal.

Turnover rose by 85.27 per cent to a total of over 12 million euros and the company said this was a reflection of its performance, particularly in terms of implementing quality landscape projects in renowned tourist developments in Portugal, Marbella and Gibraltar.

It also said that a sustainable growth in the maintenance of private gardens also contributed to the best results ever achieved by the company in this area and represented a turnover of nearly two million euros.

The company has also grown physically as well as financially, with an increase of more than 50 per cent in its workforce. In January 2007, Jardim Vista SA had 180 members of staff and over the space of one year, the workforce grew to 310.

The company believes that part of the success is due to the improvements in the hiring of qualified staff to departments including accountancy, security and hygiene, quality, environmental and marketing.

In the Greater Lisbon area, Jardim Vista SA regrouped the operations in its Terrugem facilities, near Sintra, in order to provide a more comprehensive service to clients.

The landscaping atelier, the construction and the maintenance departments are all now working closely to achieve the best results in this competitive market, according to the company.

Following the recent opening of the Marbella office, Jardim Vista SA will create two “sister” companies called Jardim Vista SL and Jardim Vista Gibraltar. These companies will provide extra support to the international operations of the company.

Jardim Vista SA’s Administrator and Managing Director is Richard Westcott, who is a landscape architect with vast international experience and who has worked in Saudi Arabia and Dubai.

With nearly 20 years of experience and a vast portfolio of concluded projects, Jardim Vista SA is well-known for having a solid combination of design quality, meticulous execution and professional maintenance.

The Resident reported that Jardim Vista SA had been awarded the Prémio de Jardinería de la Costa del Sol 2007 prize for its design, construction and maintenance of a garden in Marbella.

The company was also asked to design and implement the gardens at Monte Rei Golf and Country Club in the eastern Algarve. The 12,000sqm garden was an energy efficient concept with water control for irrigation and had specific designs for foot and cycle paths (see The Resident, August 3, 2007).

Jardim Vista boasts many other prestigious developers and private clients in Portugal, Madeira, Spain and Gibraltar.
