Lawyer for alleged ‘aspirant serial killer’ tells court: “he’d never have done it”

The trial of 19-year-old João Carreira, the university student who has been held in detention since his arrest on charges of terrorism, has heard that for all the talk and planning, he would never have carried his ‘mass killing’ plan through. Lawyer Jorge Pracana has told Lisbon’s central criminal court that it is important to ‘find the truth’ in this case. It is this truth that the defence lawyer will be seeking to demonstrate, if possible ‘behind closed doors’, as he seeks, he explains, to preserve the young man’s future.
