Late defeat for Olhanense

SC Olhanense travelled to Lisbon to play Clube Oriental in the Campeonato de Portugal not having lost in the league since the end of August. Manager Ivo Soares fielded the same team that beat Sacavenenses a fortnight before and early indications looked positive for the visitors. Once again, an inability to convert chances cost the team dearly as Oriental soaked up the pressure. With just nine minutes of normal time remaining, the home side were awarded a penalty which Ruizinho duly converted. The late introduction of Leandro and Djalmir failed to find the all-important late equaliser. After nine games, Oriental move up to third place on 17 points whilst Olhanense remain in mid-table on 12 points. On Sunday, at the José Arcanjo Stadium in Olhão, Olhanense entertain relegation threatened Vasco da Gama Vidigueira (Beja) who have lost seven of their nine league games. Kick-off – 3pm.
