There is still time to sign up for this year’s Tri-Triathlon event, which will be held on Sunday, October 13 at Quinta do Lago’s sports complex The Campus.
After a successful first edition which attracted over 100 people and was warmly welcomed, the event is returning this year with 10 categories of races to choose from.
The distance of each race varies between 50 and 750 metres of swimming, three and five kilometres of running and 10 and 20kms of cycling.
The Tri-Triathlon is described as a “fantastic opportunity for beginners and athletes to enjoy the premium conditions, natural trails and support from high-class professionals who will help you successfully complete the competition”.
Gold-medal winning Irish Paralympian Mark Rohan, manager of The Bike Shed cycling centre at The Campus, is one of the athletes who is organising the event.
“We know how important it is these days to be active and healthy and it is fantastic to see so many people take on this challenge,” he says.
He describes the event as the “perfect opportunity to do something fun and dynamic whilst enjoying the nature of the resort’s surrounding area”.
“Quinta do Lago has a fantastic environment for triathlon events and outdoor sports. The private lake is excellent for swimming while the quiet roads can be optimised to create technical tracks with different difficulty levels. All of this coupled with the warm climate and beautiful scenery creates the ideal conditions for these kinds of competitions,” Rohan says.
A day earlier, The Campus will also host the Children’s Aquathon which will be open to children and youngsters aged seven to 16.
