A THIRTY metre high Christmas tree, the largest in the Algarve, is to be erected in the Praça Marquês de Pombal in Vila Real de Santo António as part of the Christmas celebrations in the municipality.
The Christmas illuminations in the city will be turned on today (Friday) at 6.30pm from the Praça Marquês de Pombal and the Christmas village complete with face painting, puppets and Father Christmas will also open this evening. Between 35,000 and 40,000 visitors are expected to the city over the Christmas period.
