Laos and Myanmar build bridge

Southeast Asian countries Laos and Myanmar have started the construction of their first bridge together and it will link their countries in 2015. The two governments aim to use it to boost trade and investment as well as enhancing their cooperation. Involving an investment of €13.4 million, the ‘friendship bridge’ between Laos and Myanmar will be 690 metres long, 10 metres wide and will have two vehicle lanes and two sidewalks. The construction of the bridge will take approximately 30 months to complete.
