Lecture || António Almeida will be the speaker at the next lecture organised by the Algarve Archaeological Association. He will be discussing ‘Language and Archaeology’ on June 3 at two different venues.
The first lecture will be held at the Museum of São Brás at 3pm. Prior to the lecture there will be a meal arranged at a local restaurant.
The second lecture will be held at 7.15pm at the Convento de São José in Lagoa. Subject to time, a meal will be arranged after the lecture.
Did language begin with Homo sapiens or had earlier hominids already have the faculty of speech? What languages were spoken in Europe before the Indo-European languages prevailed? Did the old European Danube civilization develop the first writing system?
The lectures are open to all and are held in English. Non members are charged €6 and all money raised by the AAA is spent on grants and speakers.
