A technical fault caused an Easyjet plane to fail its first landing attempt at Faro airport on September 25.
According to Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã, the fire brigade, the emergency services and the civil protection authority were alerted at around 12.50pm to a possible emergency situation at the airport.
The GNR were also alerted that it may be necessary to open the safety corridors from the airport to Faro hospital.
The plane however, was reported to have landed safely 10 minutes after its first landing attempt, at around 1pm, without any incidents.
At the time the Algarve Resident went to press, no one from ANA Aeroportos or Easyjet was available to comment.
