Land clearing

In a bid to prevent forest fires, a civil protection team has been clearing shrubland in the coastal dune forest of Vila Real de Santo António and Monte Gordo.

With the aim of enhancing and preserving the area’s natural landscape, the clear-up also includes the widening of tracks to enable emergency vehicles to drive through as well as the repairing of damaged fences.

The municipal civil protection authority said surveillance of the forest would start on June 1 and last the summer.
