Three dwarf crocodiles which arrived at Lagos Zoo in March have been identified as being 100% pure members of the Ogooué species.
A spokesman from Lagos Zoo told the Algarve Resident: “The crocodiles were very special for being the sole representatives of the species in Portugal. Now we have discovered that they are even more special because they are 100% pure.”
The results were achieved after a DNA study made by the Zoo de Fuengirola, in Spain, from where the three crocodiles came.
The study shows that these crocodiles are pure African Ogooué.
