THE FIRST luxury resort to be built in Lagos, housing a five star hotel, is being developed over the Canavial beach, close to the town’s tourist highlight, Ponta da Piedade.
Cascade Resort is the result of a joint venture between Urs Wild, owner of the Romantik Hotel Vivenda Miranda in Lagos, and the Fibeira Group, who have been investing in several tourist projects, such as the Vila Rica Hotel in Lisbon and the Hotel Madeira Palace in Madeira Island.
The 14 acre site will include sub-tropical gardens and numerous leisure facilities. In the first stage of development, 58 apartments will be constructed and 10 four bedroom villas. The second phase will construct a further 63 apartments built alongside another 10 villas.
Environmentally friendly
The five star hotel will be the first one in the Lagos area and will accommodate 86 rooms, conference facilities, two restaurants, a commercial zone, a wellness centre, swimming pools and 23,000sqm of gardens, with sea views and direct access to the Canavial beach.
The project is focused on quality and being environmentally friendly, using solar heating, water treatment for the gardens and special roof designs to provide shade over the doors and windows. The apartments being developed in phase one of construction will be completed by the end of this year.
