A project to expand and renovate Lagos’ municipal kennel has been revealed by the local council.
The kennel can presently accommodate 42 dogs and seven cats, with the plan being to build 16 extra spaces for dogs which will release space for more cats.
Said the local council, “the goal is to increase the kennel’s capacity to temporarily provide shelter to animals and improve its conditions”.
Further details about the project – such as how much it will cost and when the works will start – have not been revealed.
The council has nonetheless stressed its commitment to helping the adoption process at the municipal kennel and praised the work of local animal associations which “carry out remarkable volunteer work,” such as Cadela Carlota & Companhia, The Nandy Charity Shop, Bigodes de Alfazema and Gatos de Lagos.
