Lagos supports “regionalisation”

Lagos’ municipal assembly approved a motion last week supporting regionalisation – in other words, the devolution of powers from Lisbon. “The Algarve has always had the ambition of having greater autonomy,” said the assembly, adding that regionalisation would create a “State that is closer to its citizens”. In March, PSD/Algarve also approved a bid to see regionalisation brought back in the country’s political agenda.
