Lagos: Scottish man still missing as family appeals for information

There are still no signs of missing Scottish man Jon Anderson Edwards, and his mother and sister, now in the Algarve, are asking anyone who may have had contact with him on the day of his disappearance – September 15 – to come forward.
On Jon’s Facebook page today (September 29), mother Lesley Edwards revealed that her son had “viewed one of his messages at around 4pm” on the day he disappeared, “so he hadn’t left his apartment at that time”.
Thus she asks: “If anyone received a message from him on the 15th, please tell me what was said no matter how insignificant you may think it was.”
A few days earlier, sister Kenna Balion had said that she and her mother were taken to the police station in Portimão, “where we were interviewed by the same detectives and interpreter that were leading the McCann investigation.
“They have widened the search and promised they will find Jon,” she said.
Jon, 31 – also known as Jon Balion – had been working as a sous chef at the Rockfood café in Lagos for about a week before he disappeared without trace from his apartment in Lagos on September 15, leaving behind his personal belongings such as his passport and mobile phone.
He had reportedly hit his head the day before and was recovering at home.
Lesley Edwards told The Resident she had no idea what could have happened.
“I’ve been told he hit his head the day before he disappeared so I don’t know what state of mind he was in when he went missing.”
According to Dago Lipke, his employer, Jon “got along well with all the staff” and, despite being a “somewhat quiet person”, had an active social life.
Messages of support from friends and family continue to be posted on Jon’s Facebook page.
