Construction of a pet cemetery has started in Lagos and is expected to be completed “soon”, mayoress Maria Joaquina Matos has told Correio da Manhã tabloid.
The project will cost around €50,000 and was the top-voted idea of the municipality’s 2015 ‘Orçamento Participativo’, which allows local citizens to suggest and vote for their own projects.
“It’s a project that’s very much beloved by the population and the council,” the mayoress said.
The pet cemetery will be located on Rua Bairro da Abrótea and will feature 40 spaces of many sizes for all kinds of animals from dogs and cats to birds.
