In a bid to attract more private investors to the area, Lagos council has paved the way for a faster, easier, bureaucracy-friendly attitude.
Its ‘Via Verde Empresarial’ was approved unanimously last week and powered by the belief that entrepreneurs can breathe new life into the social and economic fabric of the community.
“The goal is to implement a system that promotes sustainable economic development, boosts job creation, stimulates and revitalises economic activity, namely in terms of commerce, services and industry, and supports the business sector,” the municipality explained in a press release.
The council added that any business ideas that incorporate these ideals will fit perfectly in this project and that potential investors will now be provided information and advice in a more personalised and qualified fashion, while procedures have been made swifter.
Council chiefs affirm: the only way to turn the tide on the current economic situation is to “attract and cooperate with the private sector”. This will lead to more employment and wealth, and “an increased feeling of wellbeing among families”.
