The dirt field of an old football stadium near Lagos camp site is going to be used as a fee-paying car park this summer in an effort to provide easy parking near beach hotspots like Dona Ana, Batata and Estudantes.
The car park should be ready by “mid June” and will have a capacity for 250 vehicles, councillor Paulo Jorge Reis told Correio da Manhã.
As the old stadium lay abandoned for many years, entrances have to be built – one from the EN125 road in front of the town’s fire station and another from Rossio da Trindade.
The plan is for proceeds from parking fees to go to the town’s football club Esperança.
Esperança used to play at the old stadium before moving east to land alongside the new PSP police station.
