Earlier this month, ADL, Lagos Dance School, won 12 trophies at the All Dance Europe Competition in Tarragona, Spain.
“While this outstanding performance brings a great deal of pride to Lagos, we are even prouder of our children’s efforts to show respect for different cultures through their art,” said a press statement from the dance school.
“The theme of the competition was ‘Dance for Peace’. We used this opportunity to use the medium of dance as a means to link different peoples and cultures from East to West and North to South.”
Much of the credit for ADL’s accomplishments are the result of the wonderful choreographies developed by Yuri Stroganov and Marina Khametova.
The work of the ADL students, and the support of parents and the city of Lagos, which sponsored the groups’ transport, accommodation and expenses, all combined to bring the championship home.
ADL will soon be preparing for a Christmas recital on December 15 and 16. Follow the dance school on Facebook.
