Lagos crime prevention seminar

A unique Crime Prevention Seminar will take place on September 26 from 4pm to 6pm at the Centro Cultural de Lagos, in Lagos.

It is being organised for the English speaking community by Safe Communities Algarve in partnership with Destacamento da GNR de Portimão, PSP Divisão Policial Portimão, British Consulate and the Associação Sócio-Profissional dos Guardas Nocturnos (Night Guard Service).   The seminar is aimed at promoting safer communities through crime prevention.

It will be the first time that these organisations and presenters have come together at a single event to share their experiences with the public and will provide a unique opportunity for questions and answers on matters of interest to the public. The agenda of the seminar will see David Thomas of Safe Communities Algarve present an introduction on overall crime, context and trends, on crime prevention and work carried out by Safe Communities Algarve, including the “My GNR” initiative.

Commander of the Portimão GNR, Captain Carlos Bengala will then convey the work done by the GNR, the Safe Residence Program and give an overview on local crime.

This will be followed by the Commissário Carlos Pinto, José dos Santos the Vice President of the Night Guard Service, and the Vice Consul, Angela Morado, all of which will be covering a wide range of crime prevention topics, all relevant to foreign residents of Portugal.
