Council advises using alternative routes
Major disruptions to traffic are expected in Lagos until Friday, May 26 due to the closure of the bridge over the Bensafrim stream, which is undergoing renovations.
The council requested an inspection from the National Laboratory of Civil Engineering, which called for “structural renovations” to the bridge.
The improvements are taking place on the bridge deck, meaning that the bridge has been closed off to pedestrians and traffic.
Says Lagos council, drivers and pedestrians can use the alternative route between the Pingo Doce supermarket and the Dona Maria bridge, while heavy vehicles are being directed to the A22 motorway.
The works are also affecting the local bus system A Onda, having led to the temporary suspension of Lagos sports complex stops and the São João stop for the pink, orange and purple lines.
